Final animation – Literary Warroom

Basically the book is about a man who’s neurotic. He pretends he’s happy. His wife doesn’t need that lie, she lives her dreams.
I’ve only got the first pages and a fragment from the middle of the story. But from what I’ve read, I definitely want more. I’ll buy the book (maybe post a review) when I get my hands on it.

As I explained in a previous post. The clip will be shown at Literaire Lente event on April 4th. Literary warroom is an activity among many others. In a large room, 24 books will be presented on a large lcd that is turned 90° (9/16 ratio). The book is summarized by an actor, there’s a short clip from the author and there’s a clip made by the students of Sint-Lucas. The smokey room will only be lit by the lcd monitors an shall be accompanied by a soundscape.
It is the first time I’ve made a mature 3d animation, first time I’ve used the max cloth modifier, first time I’ve used After Effects, first time I’ve tracked an animation. Needless to say, F1 has been my best friend for the past weeks.

The first part is made using 3D Max using the internal cloth modifier. Rendered using the almighty Vray. Rendertimes were ca. 4min/frame. Totalling 2 days worth of rendering on an Intel Quad 6600.
The second part is a bit of milk flowing on a plastic plate. It’s a polished version of the clip I posted earlier.

Overall I really enjoyed the project and I’m happy with the way it turned out.

Let me know what you think.
